Gumball 3000 - Edition 2010

The annual Gumball 3000 rally always causes some uproar, not only in terms of engine noises but most of all the whole schmear accompanying the event.  Last weekend it was more of the same at checkpoint Waterlooplein, Amsterdam in the Netherlands. More than 100 supercars in all kinds of wacky colours and liveries checked in at the square which normally is a simple marketplace with a fish monger, Döner and pizza stalls and so on.

Beside the cars there were participants who made contrasts even more apparent, like the many celebs and other extremely wealthy people. Present were rappers, skateboarder Tony Hawk and apparently David Hasselhoff takes part in the rally as well this year (we didn't spot him in Amsterdam though).

The rally started in London at Pall Mall on 1 May after which the cars headed for Amsterdam to arrive the same day. The collection of supercars present was pretty amazing, of course they were cluttered with hundreds of stickers and some pretty hideous colours. But, we guess, that's the spirit. Brand-new Ferraris were no exception as well as many Lamborghini Gallardos and Murcielagos and of course Porsches in all shapes and sizes. Though, undersigned enjoyed the lovely Dino 246 GT most of all as well as the rare KTM x-bow driven by some plucky Brits.

As we were present at the checkpoint we obviously couldn't resist making some photos of the whole show. So please see our slideshow below or check out our flickr.com channel.
