Video: The man, the car, the addiction

atkinsonminiWe like to think we just unearthed a little gem on youtube. You might know it already. Ever heard of 'The Driven Man'? A fabulous documentary which follows Rowan atkinson in his quest to find out more about his car passion or addiction for that matter. Actor, writer and stand-up Rowan Atkinson is most widely known as silly man Mr. Bean or in his role as Edmund Blackadder in the BBC television tetralogy 'Blackadder'. Of course he did a lot more good than that acting a variety of roles over the years. 'The Driven Man' only reinforces this versatility by combining a documentary with his comedy qualities. We see him play himself in little sketches going back to his driving lesson days, his days on a tractor and in a Morris Minor and driving in some obscure Rover/MG/Austin Metro cup.

Audi v BMW: comparative advertising

Written by Kurt | Tuesday, 04 January 2011 23:58

In many countries comparative advertising, advertising in which a competitor is basically ridiculed over their 'inferior' product, is not allowed. Which is why Audi have made numerous campaigns telling us why their Bavarian rival, BMW, is inferior. Which is why BMW is doing exactly the same in response. All resulting in an elegant bit of intellectual mud throwing, that's dynamic advertising for you, time to show you some with other words.

Video: The 'Beogradski Fantom'

Written by Kurt | Saturday, 16 October 2010 00:00

beogradski_fantom2The what? Well, the english translation of the title is the 'Belgrade Phantom', you might have heard of him. Many have, certainly if you come from Yugoslavia. The Belgrade Phantom is a true story of car thief Vlada Vasiljevic who repeatedly managed to keep the police busy in the late 1970s by racing around the streets of Belgrade in a white Porsche 911 Targa. Last year a documentary film was made on the subject, directed by Serbian director Jovan B. Todorovic. Even if you can't understand any Serbian, it's a good watch, even if it's only because of the godess that is the white 911 SC Targa.

Written by Kurt | Wednesday, 25 August 2010 15:03

ferrariporscheThe late sixties of the last century must have been exciting times if you liked 6 cylinder cars sports cars. There was the Jaguar E-Type, the Porsche 911 and then, at some point Porsche came up with the 911S, if you felt the normal 911 wasn't quick enough for you. One could say it was the start of the overwhelming array of different 911 models in Porsche's range. But never mind that, in 1968 a direct competitor for the 911S was launched by none other than Ferrari, albeit under a different brand to differentiate it from its more expensive siblings. It was launched as the Dino 206 GT.
